Q: Are there restrictions or regulations on what kind of canoe/kayak, bike, or paddle I can use?
A: No, you may use any type of bike, tandem, paddle, canoe, or kayak for the race. We welcome all participants, regardless of the equipment they choose!
Q: Do I have to wear a helmet while on my bike?
A: Yes, all participants must wear a CPSC/ANSI approved helmet while participating in the bike portion of the race. Safety is our top priority!
Q: Do I have to wear a life jacket while I am in my boat?
A: Yes, all participants will be required to wear a US Coast Guard approved personal flotation device (life jacket) while on the river. We will have safety boats on the river during the race to assist in any emergencies, but the life vest is your first line of defense to ensure your safety.
Q: Will there be food at the Bandshell for participants?
A: Yes! After the race, snacks, water, and Gatorade will be available for all participants and volunteers at the Bandshell. We want to make sure you're fueled and hydrated after your hard work!

In the same weekend as the Root River Triathlon is held, the SEMBA Blue Grass Festival at the Cushons Peak campground. If you want to combine the excitement of the Root River Triathlon with the atmosphere of Blue Grass Music and camping check out their website.

Houston Hoedown DaysHouston's annual Hoedown celebration is always the last FULL weekend of July. Starting on Friday afternoon with the Kiddie Parade, the celebration attracts crowds late into Sunday night after the last band closes it show at the Hoedown Grounds. There are many attractions including the various tractor pulls, the Minnesota State Horsepull, nightly dances, world famous brats, flea markets, pie and ice cream socials, game for kids, the huge Sunday parade and much more.
